Relay For Life changes venue!

With this year’s theme of “Under the Sea,” the Relay For Life committee is diving right in and planning for SUNY Geneseo’s annual event is well underway. Relay For Life is Geneseo’s largest and most highly attended campus event, attracting 1,000 or more participants each year. Students, faculty and alumni alike register for the event and work together to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. The donations are then used for a variety of initiatives including cancer research, education and awareness programs, and patient services.

This year, the overnight event is being held in Wilson Ice Arena. The large number of anticipated participants has motivated the committee to change the venue from Kuhl Gymnasium with the hopes that the congestion the event is known for will be alleviated.

The change also provides the opportunity for a variety of onsite fundraisers and activities to be held at the actual Relay For Life event. Having Relay For Life in Wilson Ice Arena leaves Kuhl Gymnasium open for larger, structured activities like the Volleyball Tournament that the committee is currently putting together.

The committee is also opening up the chance to host fundraisers and activities to teams and individual participants. Anyone who is interested in doing so should contact the committee at cac@geneseo.edu.
